A few years ago I started reading novels, essays and technical books in English. I have a few books on web-related subjects (web marketing, SEO, copywriting, etc.), they are easier to read, it is the English that I call "technical", more elementary than what we can find in a fiction book. For fiction I preferred to start with children's books , they are written in a simpler language than adult books (besides the fact that I like reading children's books), although a Terry Brooks novel wasn't difficult at all to face. My Shopping List on Amazon is filling up with novels that I would like to buy. I use it to park books, to remind me of the ones I want to read. As I read in English I notice improvements, but they are still few, you should read at least one book a month to speed up learning the language.
In the last novel I read, by Maile Maloy, I made a list of the words I didn't know and then I tried to learn them by heart. I don't know how many I remember now. It is not possible to read Special Data everything in the original language, because we cannot know all the languages of the world to the point of being able to read them without problems. I read more Anglo-Saxon authors than from other countries, so in those cases, little by little, I would like to stop reading the Italian translation. Especially if bad things happen to me like in the last novel I read. Wide choice of readings If you try to subscribe to the newsletters of various English and American publishing houses, you will be bombarded by the latest releases of their catalogues.
At the beginning I was impressed by the number of books published monthly and it was immediately clear to me that only a small part of everything produced in those countries comes from us. The rest remains for the Anglo-Saxon public, or rather for the public that reads in English. Less wait than the Italian edition I happened to wait several months before the translation of a novel that interested me came out. Sometimes it even comes out within a few days of the English edition and in that case I hope that the Italian publisher received the manuscript long before the release of the original book. I remember when Martin's novels came out. Mondadori, as many know, divided them into at least 2 books, in one case into 3, which they released 6 months apart from each other. I had to wait quite a while to read the complete novel.
